A Letter from Bishop Morgan Casey

Bishop Morgan Casey poses with two St. Mary Magdalen alumnae: Linda Deimeke and Patti Laughlin. Bishop Casey served his first assignment after his ordination in 1962 as the associate pastor of Mary Magdalen. He left this post three years later when he volunteered to be assigned to the Latin American Apostolate, and he has served in Bolivia to this day.

Dear Friends,

Peace and joy in the Lord, who holds us in the palm of our hands and loves us.

I have been asked by the Friends of the Dominican Sisters what I think about their drive to raise a fund to help the Sisters. I think that it is a wonderful thing to do to show the Sisters how much you appreciate what they have done for you as students in grade school instilling qualities of moral character and intellectual skills that continue to serve you well. The average age of the Sisters now is more than 65. Many of the sisters that you had, have gone to their reward. The Sisters depended on young sisters´ salaries to keep the retired sisters. Now there are few working young sisters. Sad to say they did not get into Social Security until they were up in years. Their investments have gone down the tube just like yours. It is for these reasons that I think we can share our blessings with them. I have.

Glad Sister Mary Alice is not around to check my grammar and spelling.

I would love to hear from you: macvicpando@yahoo.com

May the Lord bless and keep you close to Him,

In Jesus, the Lord,

† Morgan Casey
